Hello…it’s been a while….a very long while! I am the author of this blog that has been so sadly abandoned for OVER A YEAR. LoL I want to start a new blog soon….our lives are so different even from the last time I posted on here. Different in a great way! The Lord is not through with us yet….so stayed tuned for what is next! You never know with us!
God is so good. He has been SO good to us. “Makes me wanna shout! Hallelujah, thank you Jesus! Lord you’re worthy, of all of the glory…and all the honor…and all the praise! Sorry, had to break out in song for a moment. Right now I am a Mommy of 2 precious wild little boys, wife to Matt of almost NINE years, and daughter to my Heavenly father whom I love and adore. We live in Muscle Shoals, AL where I work as a part-time guidance counselor at Muscle Shoals Middle School. I absolutely L-O-V-E it. So blessed. Eli is in Muscle Shoals Pre-K with the absolute best teachers in the entire world hands down. He is learning about everything from The Great Wall of China to solids, liquids, and gases. Luke attends Mars Hill bible/preschool 3 days a week and loves him some Granny and Nanna time the other two days. I do not work on Mondays and Fridays which I love and wouldn’t mind doing forever. LoL
We all have our days and our moments for sure, but we are so incredibly blessed. We go to Parkview Baptist where we have plugged into 2 great Sunday school classes with teachers who clearly have a heart for people. I have already been given the opportunity to share my testimony with these ladies. They are the real deal. We share all of our struggles with each other. I enjoyed sharing my story and my heart with them.
Leaving you guys with a little chorus that I’ve always loved! Have a wonderful weekend!! Date night tonight! 😉
“Your Grace…still amazes me,
Your love…still a mystery,
Each day….I fall on my knees…
cause your Grace still amazes me.”
Well here’s my monthly post I guess!! The last one was a litle drab, but we’ve been having lots of fun lately!!!
I’ll start with Luke. He is HILARIOUS. He’s also a handfull…very rough, aggressive, AND strong-willed. Working on the sharing thing…it’s not going well. ha He is very passionate and excited about everything! I love it. He is also talking like crazy. This is such a blessing. He says full sentences and goes on and on. I am obsessed with his little voice. He has such conviction behind everything he says and does. He just turned 2 years old!! I’m so, so sad about this because I want him to stay little forever. But he is at such a fun stage right now, so I’m trying to just enjoy it. 😉
We had his big birthday party on Saturday and it was so much fun. It was at The Next Level in Tuscumbia…lots of inflatables, tee-ball set, basketball shooting, jumphouses, etc. The kids AND adults had fun. Ha Luke was full speed ahead. It was a sports-themed birthday with a big sportys cake and cake pops that looked like baseballs, footballs, and basketballs. I’ll post some pictures later!
My sweet ELi is doing well. We were looking at new preschools during his tonsil surgery recovery when we heard that his preschool where he’s been all year had hired a new teacher. Our therapist met her, we met her, and ELi met her before he even returned to school.Well..wait for it….drumroll….she’s AWESOME!! She’s doing things that Kindergarten teachers do, and the kids are really learning!! She uses lots of tools that are great for all kids but espcially great for kids with Autism. Eli has been writing ALL of the alphabet for a while now. So proud of him. They are working on numbers now in his class. He can write his full name pretty well too. I know he’s academically ready for school but this Mommy is glad he has another year to be my baby before big school starts!
Totally off topic, but we took him to Yo Gabba Gabba Live in Huntsville last week. He was a little curious at first but ended up jumping and singing with them. I have to admit..I loved it! It was a lot of fun! We’ll have to do that again soon.
The next few months should be busy and fun. Spring Break is coming up and I cannot wait. We are taking Eli to an Alabama basketball game on March 9th. Once April rolls around, there are lots of Autism walks going on. Plus, Christy Brackin, my dear sweet friend and running partner, is getting married!!! SHe’s getting married in July, so we’ll have lots of fun things to do for that as well.
August 3rd is the 2nd annual 5k Run for Autism held by yours truly. I have chip timing reserved and lots of things in place to make it better this year. So excited!
God has blessed us so and provided for us in ways we never dreamed. We are so unworthy but so thankful!!!
Wow it’s been too long! I can’t believe it’s winter time and CHRISTMAS TIME! One of my favorite times of the year….
I forgot to post about Eli’s birthday, so I’ll say really quick….he had a wonderful birthday! He had a “Very Hungry Caterpillar party” that featured mostly that and several other Eric Carle books that he loves. Monkeynaround is one of his favorites places, so we partied there with friends and family, and my Eli had SO much fun! He sang “Happy Birthday” to himself along with his guests with a big smile on his face. He had a blast with little friends Kayln, Ty, Addison, and Luke of course. Great day! Here’s a pic of the cake! Hopefully I can post more birthday pictures at a later time!
Ok back to Christmas time….Lots of stuff I haven’t been updating about. New trials and struggles but taking them in stride and praying for guidance along the way. Eli is such a joy to be around. HE is such a happy little guy. He is asking so many age-appropriate questions lately. What a blessing! My sweet little Luke is just talking and saying so many new words and PHRASES! He loves his fishing game, and when he “catches” a fish, he will say, “I dot (got) one Mommy!” Can’t believe he’s old enough to be saying that.
We are enjoying Christmas music on in our kitchen 24/7, the pretty lights we see when we drive through downtown Athens each day, the stockings and the tree, and the boys are really into Santa Clause! They got their picture made with Santa at preschool…they both sat on his lap at the same time for pictures. I hear they did a great job, so I can’t wait to see the pictures! Eli ran into Santa when we were at Bridgestreet and really liked that as well. My boys love Santa!
Much more fun updates to come! Here are a couple more holiday photos!
Love, Love, Love this song….
Go to the link and play the video. Turn up sound and listen. 🙂 We used to sing this at FCA meetings when I was a student at UA. Loved it then, and love it even more now! True words!
Yesterday I took a personal day off, and it was so worth it. Eli has Wednesdays off from preschool/therapy, so I decided since it was sort-of his “birthday week,” I would take off and spend the day with him. He turns 4 years old on Sunday!
Yesterday, we woke up and just relaxed and watched a little TV. Then we took a trip to Target. Eli enjoys riding in the buggy. He stretches out in the bottom of it. 😉 We went back home, ate lunch, and read lots of books. Eli loves to read books, and I love reading to him. He is a big fan of the Eric Carle books, which is why we are doing that for his birthday theme (with a focus on The Very Hungry Caterpillar. 😉
We got dressed and went downtown for Eli to get a hair-cut. Downtown Athens is so pretty right now with all of the trees changing, leaves falling, and they have the prettiest fall decorations on each corner of the square. We walked around the sqaure some and then went on to get a hair-cut. Eli did great and just talked to the ladies in the salon so much. “Mrs. Whitney” does a great job with him.
Afterwards we went to get ice cream at the Drug Store. We walked since it’s right across the street and the weather was so nice. 🙂 Eli knew we were going there after his haircut, and he was excited! He ate lots of vanilla ice cream all by himself!
Thankful for such a wonderful day with my sweet, sweet Eli!
I have learned that Fall is not only about pumpkins, Halloween, and changes in the weather, it also seems to be about food. Suddenly, teachers are bringing sweets to school daily. I have been cooking more at night during the week for some reason….ever since Fall rolled around! I’ve tried several new pinterest recipes for dinner and a couple of sweets as well. I guess with fall coming, our clothes seem to cover more, so maybe we don’t feel as badly about eating! Ha! There are so many cute fall party treats to try to make. It’s hard to resist!
I’m feeling badly today. I haven’t exercised like I need to. It’s SO HARD to find the time to do that. I get up about 5:15 every morning, so I can be ready when the boys wake up, so then I can get THEM ready. I leave school and pick the boys up anytime between 3:30 and 4:00 in the afternoon. They are in bed by 7:30 or 8:00. If I sit down after they go to bed, I’m unconscious. lol I fall asleep and cannot imagine going to work out. I’m going to have to start going at night though…at least 3 times a week. I went last week but haven’t gone this week yet. I used to go run after I put LUke to sleep around 7:30, but now it’s too dark to do that.
Gotta get motivated!! I don’t have quite the willpower that I used to! I was doing so good this summer. I had dropped 10 lbs while getting ready for the race, and my friends and I did three 5ks. Gotta get back into the swing of things! Need more hours in the day!
I thought maybe writing about it would motivate me more!
